Book 8 — Pride and Prejudice

Pride and Prejudice is my second Jane Austen book, and my goal is to read all of her novels this year. It is also on the Well-Educated Mind list, so two birds with one stone. Elizabeth Bennett is one of my favorite characters in literature — she is incredibly clever and witty, certainly much smarter than most of the people around her. Because of this, she has a lot of faith in her own judgment, and tends to stick to her first impressions of people. Mr. Darcy comes across on first impression as very arrogant and aloof. By many twists of fate, their paths keep crossing, and they find that others are not always as they appear.
